GB News host grills Insulate Britain on their campaign

Insulate Britain has caused misery for drivers in recent weeks with 13 blockades across the M25 and central London.Political commentator Calvin Robinson questioned Insulate Britain’s Tim Gough behind the funding of the group’s proposal.He noted that it would have to be funded by taxpayers.Speaking on GB News , Mr Robinson asked: “You said that your campaign hasn’t worked because you’ve got a lot of attention from it but I don’t think that’s the success criteria because what you haven’t got is the sympathy of the British public.

“Who said that we want all homes to insulate by the Government within the next 10 years? First of all, what does by the Government mean?
“The Government doesn’t have any funding.
You’re talking about me, why do you want me to pay for your insulation?”
Mr Gough said: “It’s a question of everyone paying for everyone’s insulation or the Government taking action to invest in the future of this country.

Climate change lecturer John Grant interjected: “What we’re talking about here is if you invest in insulation, you actually get the money back from the investment by virtue of saving money and health improvement.
“This is not like investing in roads which make things worse.This is actually got a payback in it.
“This is over time not a cost but an actual saving and a saving for the poorest as well.”

Mr Robinson added: “What John’s done there is articulated the argument much better than Insulate Britain have in the last two months.”
The climate group has since suspended its road-blocking protests until October 25.
In a letter to Boris Johnson, the Quote: : “Insulate Britain would like to take this opportunity to profoundly acknowledge the disruption caused over the past five weeks.
“We cannot imagine undertaking such acts in normal circumstances.But the dire reality of our situation has to be faced.

Insulate Britain supporter Biff Whipster, a retail worker from Canterbury, unsuccessfully attempted to deliver the letter to Downing Street.
He told the PA news agency the group wants to “give the Government a bit of breathing space”.
But he added it will “recommence blocking roads” unless there is a “trustworthy statement from Mr Johnson about what actions he’s taking”.
