Daryl Hall has been granted a temporary restraining order against John Oates after filing a mysterious lawsuit against his Hall & Oates bandmate.

Hall and his trust, The Daryl Hall Revocable Trust, filed a sealed complaint against Oates and two co-trustees of The John W.

Oates TISA Trust on Nov.16 in the Nashville Chancery Court , PEOPLE can confirm.

On the same day, Hall’s legal team filed a motion for a temporary restraining order against Oates, which was granted on Nov.17 after a $50,000 restraining bond was obtained.

Summons were then issued to Oates as well as his co-trustees Aimee Oates and Richard Flynn on Monday, and a pro hac vice motion was filed on Wednesday, meaning one party has requested an out-of-state attorney to join the case.

Reps for Hall and Oates as well as a lawyer for Hall did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

While the bandmates have taken hiatuses from Hall & Oates in the past, they most recently performed as a duo for several concerts throughout 2022.

In March 2022, Hall expressed uncertainty at the prospect of the “Rich Girl” musicians coming back together for a new album anytime soon.”I have no idea.I don’t have any plans to work with John.

I mean, whatever.Time will tell,” he told The Los Angeles Times .

During an appearance on the Club Random with Bill Maher podcast in September 2022, Hall opened up about the state of his relationship to Oates.“You think John Oates is my partner? … He’s my business partner.

He’s not my creative partner,” he said at the time.

“John and I are brothers, but we are not creative brothers.We are business partners,” continued Hall.

“We made records called Hall & Oates together, but we’ve always been very separate, and that’s a really important thing for me.”

Earlier this year, Oates recorded and released a reggae version of Hall & Oates’ 1982 hit “Maneater” with producer Native Wayne Jobson and a lineup of legendary reggae musicians, inspired by his original vision for the song.

Oates revealed to PEOPLE in September that he wasn’t sure Hall had listened to the song’s new version, which was released in May.”Nope, I haven’t heard from him,” he said at the time.”I’m not even sure if he has or hasn’t heard it.”
