With a record 16.14 lakh candidates having registered and in keeping with the Covid-19 situation and protocols the number of centres have been doubled to 3,858 and candidates have been allotted different entry times to ensure staggered entry.

The National Testing Agency has also issued an advisory on its website on Friday and has mailed the same to the candidates.Meanwhile, the ministry of education has also written to the chief secretaries of all the states/ UTs to permit mobility to the candidates on the basis of the admit card in case there are Covid restrictions in place.

NTA also warned candidates against falling prey to messages on WhatsApp claiming that the leaked question paper can be accessed on payment of a certain sum of money.“NTA would like to advise the students to desist from trusting such a fake platform.The exam is secure and it’s a way to fleece the students.

The agency will also approach appropriate authorities for action on such activities,” said Vineet Joshi, director general, NTA.

In his letter to the CMs, Pradhan said: “We have recently seen the second wave of Covid-19 and conducting an examination of this magnitude in this background requires support of all stakeholders.

“I am sure that you would also kindly advice your chief secretary and DGP to take necessary steps so as to assure that this exam is conducted successfully,”

NEET-UG is the qualifying entrance exam for admission to bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery (MBBS), bachelor of dental surgery (BDS), bachelor of ayurveda, medicine and surgery (BAMS), bachelor of siddha medicine and surgery (BSMS), bachelor of unani medicine and surgery (BUMS), and bachelor of homeopathic medicine and surgery (BHMS) and BSc (H) Nursing courses of various medical colleges, which include premier medical colleges like AIIMS and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry.The exam would be conducted from 2 pm to 5 pm in pen and paper mode.

Earlier, Amit Khare, secretary, higher education had written to the chief secretaries of the states/ UTs to ensure that the examination centres are allowed to remain open for all exam related activities before, during and after the exam from September 11 to 13, 2021.Khare in his letter also said that, “In case there is a restriction on movements in certain areas, admit/ identity cards issued to the candidates are to be treated as a pass for their movement.

In case of other functionaries, appropriate movement passes may be issued, if and as required.”

NTA stated that no candidates will be allowed to enter the centre after 1:30 pm and has asked all the candidates to reach their designated centres as per their allotted reporting time.It has also suggested the candidates do a recce of the examination centre venue a day in advance to avoid any problem.The agency has also asked the candidates to check the list of documents they need to carry for the exam.

There are a number of items listed which will not be allowed inside the centres and NTA stated that there will be no facility available at the centres for safe keeping of personal belongings.
