A safe Haven To remind us, could you wrap up the vision of Haven in a few sentences? Haven’s vision is to overcome the biggest issue for adoption facing cryptocurrencies; market instability. This is achieved by Haven’s Offshore Storage protocol. Offshore Storage allows users to preserve the value of their coins, without compromising on security, privacy, and decentralization unlike other stable coins.
Offshore storage allows for anyone to be able to effectively open a USD based bank account without a central bank and transact funds away from the prying eyes of government. What has the Haven Protocol team accomplished since the start of the project? Most notably; we have managed to grow an extremely active and excited community that shares our vision, which is what we are most proud of.
Our network is extremely robust — we are currently on the Version 3 hard fork as a pre-emptive response to any potential attacks with our own custom algorithm. We will continue to be ASIC and NiceHash resistant. We have released or 3rd whitepaper update to encapsulate our latest vision for Offshore Storage. Offshore storage had been our main focus throughout the year and we continue to make strides.
Our technical approach has changed many times and is so much grander than we first envisioned. So much so that we are releasing a Testnet to show off all of our hard work. What is Haven Testnet and what will it test? The Haven Offshore Storage Testnet is a separate test network where we can test out the process of offshore storage in as close to a real environment as we can. Users will be able to convert in and out from XHV -> XHVD (Haven Dollars), send XHVD to each other and send XHV to other’s Offshore XHVD accounts.
This will also tease our new wallet and layout — which we are hoping to get some good feedback on. This is the first of many Testnets to be released. The last major one will be completely open-source and will be accompanied by a technical offshore storage specific whitepaper. What do you want to see as an outcome of the testnet? Because offshore storage will be working on a real network, everyone will be able to get a taste of the real deal to come.
We will be able to resolve any bugs or issues and testers will be able to pick apart a real block chain to see that the privacy is intact and that the offshore storage functionality is working correctly. If this outcome is positive, what will it imply for users of the Haven Protocol? Our community is already very supportive and has gained a lot of trust in our ability from our history which we hope to even further improve with the success of this testnet. Haven users will be able to see first-hand how this process works and hopefully continue to share our Vision and appreciate what offshore storage can bring to the crypto space. What other developments and nice things can we expect from Haven in the future? Further testnets — especially the open-source one, are the most exiting excluding the Q4 full mainnet roll out of Offshore Storage. We are starting to ramp up marketing and talking seriously with bigger exchanges. In the long term future, we will continue to improve security, functionality and accessibility to the Haven Protocol platform.
Very exciting times ahead! After the success of XHVD, we will be able to use that base for multicurrency’s. A Euro based XHVD for all major currencies.
Ideally, could you describe what Haven Protocol and its usage will look like 5 years from now? Five years is an extreme amount of time in the Cryptocurrency space. I will suspect we can’t even fully imagine what we could accomplish in that time frame. Our Vision is for Haven Protocol is to focus on adoption with apps in the same mainstream space as Venmo/Paypal.
