After experiencing a major career transition, Frenchie decided to take a leap and start her own business.Although she didn’t fully know what she was in for, she embraced the opportunity and launched her own consultancy aimed at supporting business owners in aligning the work they do with their big-picture goals.By combining the lessons she learned in her corporate career with her past experiences in scaling startups, Frenchie was able to clearly identify what it takes for a business to go from good to great.By leveraging this superpower, Frenchie now supports business owners in creating actionable strategies to move their businesses forward.

We asked Frenchie about the problem that her business solves, the achievements she’s most proud of since starting her company, and how freedom, impact, and experiences make up her definition of success.

Q: Tell us the story behind your company’s founding: How and why did you start working on Frenchie Ferenczi Strategies?

A: I started my business in the fall of 2020 after getting laid off from The Wing and feeling a bit lost about my next steps.I had always wanted to work for myself, but my confidence was low, and my self-doubt was loud.

The timing, however, was right.So I took the leap.

Q: What problem does Frenchie Ferenczi Strategies solve?

A: I teach experts and creatives to grow strategically so they can scale sustainably.After working with more than 12,000 entrepreneurs, I saw a trend—the most successful and least stressed business owners were those who were doing the right work at the right time.

I decided to decode how they do that and teach it to others.

Q: Have you ever felt like you’re “different”? If yes, in what ways has this contributed to your journey as an entrepreneur?

A: It’s always been a balance between feeling different but also highly unremarkable.When I was working in startups, I always wondered why everyone was so busy but often ineffective.

What was it that equated a long list of tasks with tangible business impact? As a result, I challenged many of my bosses along the way, which was frustrating for them.That said, the question-everything approach is what helped me see that there were systemic challenges in how we work and helped me define how I could best help others when I moved into building my own business.

Q: What are the biggest mistakes you’ve made?

A: When I first started, I assumed that business owners already knew that they needed a strategy.But over time I realized that they were aware of the challenges they were facing but didn’t realize that learning how to think holistically and strategically about their business could solve that.When I adapted my messaging to meet my audience where they were, business took off.

Q: We dare you to brag: What achievements are you most proud of?

A: I quadrupled my revenue between 2021 and 2022.I’ve worked with dozens of clients, and they’ve all seen growth, none of which has come at the expense of their well-being and freedom.

Q: Has your definition of success evolved throughout your journey as a founder?

A: When I was working in startups, my definition of success was limited to title and income.The best part about this journey has been that my definition of success has expanded.

Yes, I still want the prestige and the revenue.But I also measure success in freedom, in time with my kids, in impact on my clients, in new experiences, and more.It’s easier to feel successful when more factors contribute to success.

Q: What resources or people have contributed the most to your successes?

A: My privilege as a white woman with a financial safety net has been foundational to my success.It offered me the gift of a runway, which gave me time to grow.Aside from that, I strongly believe that there is no such thing as a solopreneur.My team, and especially my life team, has been invaluable to my success.My husband, who cooks for our kids, our children’s caregiver, my family, and friends have all unlocked the time I need to spend on my business.

Q: What’s next for you and Frenchie Ferenczi Strategies?

A: This is an exciting year for the business.I worked with the amazing Green Tie Studios on a rebranding project that I can’t wait to share with the world.

I’m focused on optimizing so that I can scale my Business Genius Bootcamp.I also have several speaking opportunities lined up, with more to come.The energy is strong, and I’m excited to make mistakes, learn, and continue expanding my impact.
