WITH more than 38 billion views on TikTok, astrology is more popular than ever.Fabulous meets three women who say it rules their universe.‘I won’t make a business decision without consulting the stars’ Kristy Lomas, 37, runs a holistic wellbeing company and lives in Manchester.“Earlier this year, I held off on signing an important business contract, because my astrology consultant advised me the planets weren’t favourable. While that might sound mad, I’ve been fascinated with astrology ever since I was a little girl.

“I come from a family who are spiritual and some believed they had psychic abilities, and I’d always been obsessed with following my horoscope.”After my A levels, I completed a travel and tourism course at college and worked as a flight attendant. In my 20s, I fell ill with chronic fatigue syndrome and was told no conventional medicine could help me, so I tried reiki and meditation. Thanks to these alternative therapies, within two years I’d completely recovered form my illness.”I met with an astrology consultant recommended by a friend, and her knowledge blew me away.

Within an hour, she’d done my birth chart and was able to describe my personality and life events with unbelievable accuracy.”It inspired me to start my wellness practice, and last year, she even pinpointed when I would win a professional award on the basis of where Jupiter – which is lucky – was in my houses – the different areas of my life, like love or money.

She was also able to tell me when I’d cross paths with someone influential, and she was right.”I was on a TV programme and got talking to influencers, one of whom decided to promote one of the products I was selling on social media.I realised that taking astrological advice could make my business a success, so I started consulting her whenever I had specific plans or ideas. Most read in The US Sun “On the basis of what planets are in each of my houses, she’ll advise on whether it’s a good time to make a certain decision.

As a result, I’ve had so much success.Clients fly from all over the world to see me and I’ve done everything from work with Fearne Cotton on her Happy Place Festival to appearing on The Real Housewives Of Cheshire.”These days, I won’t make a business decision without consulting the stars, and recently held off on signing a deal until Mercury was no longer in retrograde.Meanwhile, consulting them a few months ago and realising transformation was afoot meant that I didn’t invest in crypto currency.

It’s now reported that the crypto market is seeing a downturn.”Friends and family, including my partner and two children, respect how important astrology is to me.Being this in tune with the universe gives me clarity and helps me to make sense of my life.”The success of my wellbeing business is proof that if you have a little faith, incredible things can happen.” ‘I delayed starting my relationship until there was a new moon’ Daisy Forrest, 26, is a nanny and lives in Surbiton with boyfriend Tynkélé Papritz, 28, a film director and editor.

“On a whim last summer, I looked at my friend Tynkélé’s birth chart.I don’t know why the urge struck me, as I’d first done his chart four years earlier when we moved into a house share in 2017.”However, now I was more experienced at interpreting the stars, and as I revisited his chart, it hit me: our birth charts were mirrors of one another. The stars were telling me we were meant to be together.

“Until five years ago I wasn’t remotely interested in astrology.I thought horoscopes were best described as ‘ridiculous’ and, as for anyone who believed in them, I questioned their sanity. But in 2017, I was scrolling through Instagram when I came across some astrological memes.”They were on the accounts of women who I admired for their feminist views, and them talking about astrology and birth charts took me by surprise.

“When I googled a birth chart and saw a circle separated into 12 houses, like a pie chart, with planets positioned on it according to where they were in the sky at the moment you were born, I was fascinated.”They reveal everything from your personality to ambitions and even what you’re like in a relationship. It was a lightbulb moment for me, because I could see it as a language to be translated.

I’d studied French, Latin and Spanish at uni, so it was natural for my brain to want to explore it.Although he was slightly sceptical about the stars at first, Tynkélé has since embraced astrology, and he’ll know more than me soon! Daisy Forrest “Once I understood the theory, I started doing birth charts for friends and comparing the predictions to how they were in real life. They were so aligned, I began to believe it.I was also reassured by the career path I’d chosen – I’m a Virgo and the archetype for that sign is a caring figure, which explains why I’m drawn to working as a nanny and looking after small children.”I started to plan my week according to where planets were located throughout the 12 signs of the zodiac.

The moon changes star signs every two and a half days, and each sign has different associations. So, I’ll plan a party for when the moon is in a fire sign – such as Aries, Leo and Sagittarius – as that makes people more extroverted and chatty.

“While my dad is sceptical of astrology, friends ask me what’s happening with the stars to understand their lives – from work to relationships. In June 2021, everything changed for me when I looked again at Tynkélé’s birth chart.A 28-year-old film director and editor with a caring personality, he was lovely, but not my type – or so I’d thought. When we’d first met, he made it clear he was interested in me, while I’d made it clear I just wanted to be friends.”He’d moved out of our house share after a year, but we’d stayed in touch, meeting for dinners and trips to the cinema.Doing his chart again, I realised I did have feelings for him, after all.

I waited a month to tell him, because there was a cancer new moon last July, and a new moon is when new projects, including relationships, are best started.”I also wanted to wait until Mercury was no longer in retrograde.Mercury is the planet of communication and travel, so when it goes retrograde a few times a year, you have a higher chance of messing up relationships.Over drinks one evening, I told him that, according to our charts, we had a soulmate alignment. He was taken aback, but admitted he’d always liked me.I stayed over at his that night and the next day we made love.

We’ve been inseparable since and now live together.

“Although he was slightly sceptical about the stars at first, Tynkélé has since embraced astrology, and he’ll know more than me soon! These days we always ensure our date night is on a Friday because it’s associated with Venus, the planet of love and beauty. We’re hoping to have a baby together in the next few years and, of course, we are planning it by the stars.” ‘I won’t get a haircut when Venus is in retrograde’ Susannah Gill, 48, is a fashion designer and lives in Manchester.“There isn’t one thing I don’t use astrology for – from vetting romantic partners to making business decisions, to placing a bet and even when to start a diet.It was my Irish grandma Violet who first inspired me to start exploring astrology.”I can remember her giving me tea-leaf readings as a young child, and growing up I was fascinated by everything from witches to fairies.

At age seven, she introduced me to Old Moore’s Almanac, a book about astrology and the moon and how to work with your astrological star sign.I was hooked, and the more I learned, the more I realised how much it reflected my personality.”People might think I’m serious because I’m a Capricorn rising, but then get talking to me and see I’m optimistic and the life and soul of the party – that’s because of my Sagittarius sun.Our moon signs represent our inner selves and, as mine is Libra, I’m diplomatic and never argue with anyone.

“Since I was a child, I’d wanted to work in fashion.I’d been fascinated by historical clothes and corsetry, and as an adult I noticed this highlighted in my birth chart. After studying contour fashion, lingerie and swimwear at uni in Leicester, in my 20s I started working in a design office as a garment technologist, and in 2014 I moved to Manchester to launch a business as a corset designer. When Venus is in retrograde I’d never get something such as a new hairstyle, because I know I’ll just hate it, as Venus is all about aesthetics, interiors, and beauty.Susannah Gill “I timed the venture based on my chart for that year, making sure Jupiter was at a certain point in my houses.Increasingly, I started to use astrology to understand myself better.I now track my daily transits – analysing which planets are in my houses – to look out for times when my energy is low or high and change my life accordingly. For example, I’ve used it in the past to time the start of a diet to maximise staying power.

“I will ensure Saturn is in a certain area of my chart to give me a sense of discipline. As a sideline to my fashion business, I also do astrological charts for friends and clients.I have always checked out potential romantic partners for myself by looking at their birth charts.I can sniff out red flags very easily! “Neptune represents secrets and delusion, while Mercury is all about communication, so when they aspect each together in a certain house that can point to potential liars.I’m single at the moment, but when I’m in a relationship I always compare my birth chart with that of my partner to see where our energies blend and where the stumbling blocks could be.

It’s a bit like therapy – it helps me understand someone better.”When Venus is in retrograde I’d never get something such as a new hairstyle, because I know I’ll just hate it, as Venus is all about aesthetics, interiors, and beauty.”While I’m the most un-woo-woo person in my day-to-day life – you’d never catch me wearing a floaty hippy dress or with a stick of incense – decades of studying astrology has taught me the importance of listening to the universe.

“And, as for anyone who is cynical about astrology, I always remind them of what the famous investment banker JP Morgan once said: ‘Millionaires don’t use astrology, billionaires do.’”.
