Litecoin – LTC Is Litecoin LTC Still A Good Investment Today? here on blockchaincenter.net I love the charts there they exclude all the what are those stable coins so Litecoin is a top 10 crypto if you take out stable coins it currently has a market of 6.5 billion and if you consider Litecoin came out in 2011 it’s just a One of the oldest cryptos alongside of Bitcoin Litecoin has not had a very good run compared to bitcoin or some of these newer cryptos like ethereum even compared to xrp and light Dogecoin is actually a fork of Litecoin and it is outperformed Litecoin itself as well so So far Litecoin has definitely a bit of an underdog in the position it’s in today so let’s get to know Litecoin better basically Litecoin was designed to be a faster lighter version of Bitcoin that could transact faster I used to use Litecoin quite a bit when there weren’t all these other fast Blockchains around to transfer my money I do really like this tokenomics of Litecoin you’ve got a hard cap of 84 million Litecoin a circulating supply of 72 million this is a proof of work blockchain meaning there’s no real incentive to just buy it and hold it unlike something like ethereum where Institutional investors could load huge amounts of money and stake it and earn a return Litecoin you got miners just like Bitcoin constantly mining it and then for holding it your only return that you can hope for is to have the price appreciate which leads me to is the Price going to appreciate or not well let’s take a look at the history so litecoins had some big pumps it hit over 300 in 2017 then it hit over 300 again in 2021 so I think at a price of 89 or 90 today it’s totally reasonable that Litecoin could have another big pump to over 300 in the future that said if Litecoin goes from like 90 bucks today to 300 in the future future I’m not exactly Blown Away with getting a 3X on my investment and from when I see Litecoin I don’t see the huge Multipliers that you’re going to get out of buying Litecoin now this may be pretty obvious to almost everybody but sometimes we need to State the obvious because there’s a lot of people holding Litecoin as I’ll show you in a minute I think you’re likely to get as good a Better Returns on holding Bitcoin as compared to Litecoin and probably better holding ethereum and a lot of others let’s take a look at the market though Litecoin the market is only 6.5 billion so if people start actually deciding to transact even more and decide to switch to Litecoin instead of Bitcoin and if There’s regulations and attacks on a lot of staking cryptos then Litecoin certainly could do really well in that scenario because your best alternative right now for proof of work besides Bitcoin if you want something that’s more established would either be Litecoin or Dogecoin and Litecoin appears to have a lot more activity than Dogecoin does Dogecoin has been pumped up a lot off of being a meme coin and Litecoin meanwhile has just been doing the work and been being used as a payment mechanism now in light on I don’t often look at the coin market cap but litecoins is actually really useful To decide whether you’d want to invest in it or not so as you can see here on the litecoins coin market cap it was founded by Charlie Lee former Google employee who intended it to be a light version of Bitcoin as I said now let’s scroll down here to something that was Really interesting to me so in late 2020 Litecoin saw the release of mimblewimble test net so you can have confidential transactions on Litecoin which sounds like a good idea in practice but it was delisted by a bunch of exchanges in Korea and may be delisted by more in the Future because of this functionality and if people can’t buy it on a centralized exchange that may make it difficult for the price to pump in the future that said having transaction privacy on Litecoin something that sets it apart very much from things like Dogecoin and things like Bitcoin So this could facilitate more mass adoption if people actually want to use Litecoin intentionally for this the mimble wimble features Litecoin also recently has got its own ordinals the same as they set up the ordinals on bitcoin Litecoin has also recently gotten ordinals as well which may Account for some of the increase in transactions on here so let’s take a look at how many people are actually using and holding Litecoin I am happy with the activity on Litecoin you’ve got hundreds of thousands of active addresses in the last 24 hours that makes it sit at that’s what I would Expect for a six billion dollar market cap now I compared this to Doge the activity on Litecoin and the profile of the holders on Litecoin is far superior to Dogecoin so either Dogecoin is overvalued or Litecoin is undervalued because they’re so similar and yet Dogecoin looks like it should either be Worth the same or less than Litecoin or Litecoin should be up higher so certainly Litecoin may even be slightly undervalued right now compared to how many people are using it and compared to its holder profile that said here’s the biggest problem I see for Litecoin going forward so litecoin’s main value Proposition is that it’s a proof of work a digital cash kind of currency in that case you might wonder well why wouldn’t I just use Bitcoin like if I want to look at proof of work well I might as well use Bitcoin like that is a hundred times as big of a Market cap it’s got the brand recognition it has so many huge buyers like microstrategy bitcoin’s got the best shot to be an alternative Global Reserve currency so why would I buy Litecoin instead of Bitcoin if you’re thinking well Bitcoin is too slow it’s not good enough proof of work we need Something faster well now Litecoin Falls in this awkward position because if you scroll down there’s other things that are proof will work you got ethereum proof of work which has also has smart contracts and is ethereum forked over instead of proof of stake you got ethereum proof of work you have now These new things like Caspa and Nexa you’ve got these new proof of work blockchains that are Ultra fast and if I wanted to use a proof of work and have a digital cache and accept payments something like and I wanted to be proof of work and not proof of stake something I’ve reviewed both of these as well and to me these seem both kind of too early on too much dilution long story short but compared to Litecoin these look much better like if you wanted to invest you’d probably rather invest in something like Caspa or Nexa than buying Litecoin because the Litecoin is is kind of old it’s doubtful how much it’s going to pump at this point it’s in this awkward position where yes it could if it 100xed it would be 100x to get to where Bitcoin is today but why would it 100x to me investors either want the Absolute confidence and security and reliability of Bitcoin or they’re gonna want to go for some more multipliers so Litecoin to me looks like it’s in in that case if they wanted the same characteristics of Litecoin they’d go with something neuter newer they’re neutered newer they’d grab Cadena they’d Give cat crab Casper they’d grab Nexa they get ethereum proof will work they’d get ethereum classic they might pick up Monero Z cash Bitcoin SV or cash to me Litecoin is kind of stuck in this I don’t know like a limbo where it’s not On top of its game in terms of being a proof of work decentralized crypto that’s bitcoin’s got that covered it doesn’t have Smart contracts on it like ethereum it doesn’t have this massive Community like Dogecoin and the meme and that kind of support and it doesn’t have The newest technology in terms of proof of work so from my point of view I don’t hold any Litecoin I have used it in the past but today I don’t see any reason to hold Litecoin I see that anything I could want out of Litecoin I can get Better out of buying a new approval work or just by holding some Bitcoin straight up so that’s my honest review of Litecoin Litecoin certainly does have a great Community it certainly could pump I definitely think it’s got a strong chance of going back over 300 someday But I’m gonna get more than a 3X and a lot of different
