7:10 a.m.An officer took a report of ID fraud.The reporting party said that they received a letter showing they had applied for unemployment assistance despite not having done so.The party has begun taking the necessary steps to protect themselves as outlined on the mass.gov website.
8:15 a.m.An officer responded to a Central Avenue residence for the report of a past vandalism.

The reporting party stated that sometime overnight someone had pulled their signs and overturned them on their front lawn.The signs were not damaged otherwise.A report will be filed, and the reporting party was told to call the police if it happens again.
9:45 a.m.An officer took a fraud report from a Southfield Court resident.

The reporting party stated that an unemployment claim had been fraudulently made on their behalf.A police report was filed, and the party was advised to contact the Department of Unemployment Assistance to report the matter.
10:45 a.m.An officer took a report of unemployment fraud from a resident of Mayflower Road.

The party was advised to report the incident to the state.
10:30 a.m.An officer took a report over the phone for identity fraud from a Prospect Street resident.The reporting party stated they received a letter from the Massachusetts Office of Unemployment Assistance stating they had applied for unemployment assistance, when in fact they had not.A report will be made, and the party was advised to keep an eye on their personal accounts and report any suspicious activity to the police.
11 a.m.An officer took a fraud report from a Gayland Road resident.

The reporting party stated that an unemployment claim had been made fraudulently on their behalf.A police report was filed, and the party was advised to contact the Department of Unemployment Assistance to report the matter.
10:20 a.m.An officer took a report of a past incident of fraud from a Fairfield Street resident.The reporting party stated that an unemployment claim was made in their name fraudulently.

The reporting party has been advised to contact the Massachusetts Department of Unemployment to file the fraud as well.
2:10 p.m.

An officer took a report of a past incident of fraud from an Elmwood Road resident.The reporting party stated that an unemployment claim was made in their name fraudulently.The reporting party has been advised to contact the Massachusetts Department of Unemployment to file the fraud as well.
2:35 p.m.An officer took a report at an Evelyn Road address for the report of check fraud.The reporting party stated she mailed a check in Needham for the company she works for.

She stated she was contacted because the check never arrived at its intended destination.The incident is under investigation.
2:45 p.m.

An officer took a report for a possible online fraud from a Castle Place resident.The reporting party stated they were selling an item online.A potential buyer started texting them using a fake number, sent them a check for more than the asking price and requested the difference be returned using a money transfer app.The reporting party suspected the interaction to be a fraud.The check was confirmed to be fake and turned over to the police.The reporting party is not at any loss due to them catching onto the scam.
4:15 p.m.An officer took a report of unemployment fraud from a Burr drive resident.The victim has taken the proper steps so they will be not be further victimized.
4:30 p.m.

An officer was dispatched to speak with a Highland Ave resident about unemployment fraud.The reporting party stated that he had not applied for unemployment benefits at any time.

He was advised to contact Massachusetts Unemployment to report the possible compromise of his identity, as well as the respective credit bureaus.
5:30 p.m.An officer was dispatched to speak with a Hunting Road resident, concerning a dog vs.

dog bite.This matter is under investigation by Animal Control.
5:30 p.m.An officer took a report from a resident of Highgate Street regarding Unemployment COVID-19 Relief fraud.The resident had taken all the appropriate steps to mitigate the fraud and a report was taken.
4:50 p.m.

An officer took a report from a resident in the Sterling Rd area regarding Unemployment COVID-19 Relief fraud.The resident had taken all the appropriate steps to mitigate the fraud and a report was taken.
9:55 p.m.An officer stopped a motor vehicle stop on Hillside Avenue.After subsequent investigation, the operator, a 29-year-old Chelsea man, will be summonsed to Dedham District Court on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, uninsured motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration.
Sept 15
3:10 a.m.Officers were dispatched to a Highland Avenue address for a commercial burglar alarm.Upon arrival, units observed a smashed rear door to the business.

The incident is under investigation.
10 a.m., An officer observed vandalism to public structures at the intersection of Brookline Street and Manning Street.The damage was documented and the DPW was notified.
9:50 a.m.

An officer took a report of larceny at a Highland Avenue address.Seven fire extinguishers were stolen from school buses parked in a school parking lot.
11 a.m.An officer took a report of a past incident of Vandalism to a Town of Needham property at Ridge Hill.The matter is under investigation.
11:10 a.m.

An officer responded to a Dale Street address for a report of a stolen lawn sign.A search of the area was conducted.
Noon.An officer took a report from a Newton resident regarding a wallet that went missing.The reporting party stated their wallet was last used at a Highland Avenue business.

The party was advised to contact their credit card company and the credit monitoring agencies to have a freeze placed on their credit and the matter was documented.
Noon.An officer responded to a Highland Avenue business for a report of a stolen bicycle.

The area was checked with negative results.
4:30 p.m.A High Rock Street resident reported that someone had fraudulently filed for unemployment assistance using their personal information.
5:25 p.m.

A Dedham resident walked into the police station to report an encounter with another vehicle.The operator of the other vehicle said the RP had hit their vehicle.

The other car fled the scene.This remains under investigation.
6:35 p.m.A Central Avenue resident came into police headquarters to report that he was almost the victim of a scam.The scammer “refunded” too much money to the resident and requested the resident refund the “overpayment” in cash.The resident did not do this.
7:00 p.m.An officer was dispatched to a Crescent Road address for a possible abandoned motor vehicle.After an investigation, a 46-year-old Framingham male will be summonsed to Dedham District Court for number plate violation to conceal ID and an unregistered motor vehicle.
Sept 16
11:15 a.m.

An officer was dispatched to speak with a Great Plain Avenue resident concerning a larceny.The reporting person stated that a lawn sign was stolen.This matter is under investigation.
3 p.m.

Officers received a call from a Seabeds Way Resident regarding past Larceny/Fraud.The resident was advised to contact his Banking agencies fraud departments, as well as the three major credit bureaus to report the incident.
4:45 p.m.An officer took a report of unemployment fraud from a Parker Road resident.They were referred to the mass.gov website and to contact the credit bureaus.
6 p.m.An officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Highland Avenue for an expired inspection sticker and cell phone use.After a brief investigation, a 32-year-old male from Waltham was summonsed to court for operating with a suspended license, expired inspection sticker and use of an electronic device.
Sept 17
9:30 a.m.An officer took a report from an administrator at Pollard Middle School.They have had problems with juveniles accessing the building after hours.

The matter in under investigation.
Noon.An officer stopped a motor vehicle on School Street.As a result of the traffic stop, a 45-year-old Revere resident will be summoned for unlicensed operation.
3:45 p.m.

An officer took a report of unemployment fraud from a Needham resident at Thornton Road.The party was advised to report the incident to the state and a report will be created.
3:50 p.m.An officer responded to a business on Highland Avenue for a report of a disturbance between a manager and a former employee.After further investigation, a 26-year-old female Roslindale resident will be summons to Dedham District court to be charged with trespassing, assault with a dangerous weapon (vehicle) and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
5:30 p.m.

A resident of Eliot Road called NPD to report unemployment fraud.The victim was directed to the Massachusetts State unemployment website’s fraud portal and advised to contact the three major credit bureaus to report this incident.
7:45 p.m.An officer responded to a Walnut Street address for a report of Identity Theft.The reporting party filed a fraudulent claim with the state and was advised to contact her financial/business institutions to alert them of any possible breaches.A report number was provided.
8:30 p.m.

A resident of Nehoiden St called NPD to report unemployment fraud.They were advised to contact the State and major credit bureaus as well.
8:50 p.m.Officers were working a road detail on Central Avenue.They stopped a vehicle that had passed and gone around the clearly marked closed road/detour signs, over the marked lanes into oncoming traffic and back to the right side of the road.

The operator (a 39-year-old Norfolk man) was cited for marked lanes violation, mobile phone improper use, and no inspection sticker.
Sept 18
9 a.m.An officer took a report over the phone for unemployment fraud from a Plymouth Road resident.The reporting party stated they received a letter in the mail from the Massachusetts Department of Unemployment Assistance stating they had applied for unemployment assistance.The reporting party had not applied for assistance.

The reporting party was advised to keep an eye on their personal accounts and report any further suspicious activity to the police.
9:30 a.m.An officer took a report over the phone for unemployment assistance fraud from a Hawthorne Avenue resident.The reporting party stated they received a letter stating they had applied for unemployment assistance, when in fact they have not.The party was advised to keep an eye on their personal information and accounts, and to report any further suspicious activity to the police.
9:20 a.m.A resident of Bess Road called NPD to report unemployment fraud.They were advised about other agencies to notify.
10:20 a.m.

An officer spoke via telephone with a Hampton Avenue who wished to report an attempted e-mail scam.It involved threatening e-mails demanding crypto currency.
1:30 p.m., An officer took a report a business on Highland Avenue stating the manager is having an issue with a customer who refuses to pay their bill.A report will be created.The business does not want to press charges.
2 p.m.An officer took a report of unemployment fraud from a Putnam Street resident.

The party was advised to report the incident to the state and a report will be created.
6:10 p.m.

A Brookside Road resident that someone had fraudulently filed for unemployment assistance using their information.
7:30 p.m.An officer spoke with a resident of Sterling Road who reported he was a victim of unemployment fraud.He was informed to file a complaint with the Department of Labor and monitor his credit reports.

9:10 p.m.An officer took a report of a damaged motor vehicle window due to yard work in the area of Lincoln Street.

Information was exchanged and a report was filed.
10:30 a.m.A resident of Meadowbrook Road called Needham police to report unemployment fraud.They were advised of other agencies they should notify.
11:10 a.m.

A resident of Jarvis Circle called police to report unemployment fraud.The resident was advised to also contact the State Unemployment Office and monitor their credit.
11:50 a.m.A resident of Cottage Street reported unemployment fraud.She was advised of the necessary notifications to make and to monitor her credit.
12:20 p.m.An officer took a report of a possible past fraud from a Gould Street resident.

The party was advised on proper steps to take regarding the matter and it was documented.
2 p.m., officers responded to a 2nd Ave residence for the report of neighbor trouble.The reporting party stated they were being harassed by a neighbor today and this has been an ongoing issue.The reporting party was advised of their legal options.
6:30 p.m.Officers responded to the area of Highland Avenue and 2nd Avenue for a well-being check on a possibly intoxicated party.The party was located operating on A street and stopped.After an investigation,a 29-year-old Needham resident was arrested for OUI-Liquor, Possession of Class C and E drugs.

11:45 a.m.

An officer responded to a Fairfield Road address for the report of a suspicious letter.
3:20 p.m.An officer took a report from a 2nd Avenue resident regarding a potential break-in of his residence.The matter is under investigation and a report has been taken.
