(Stillness in the Storm Editor) Twitter is about to roll out a huge development in the censorship cold-wars in the run-up to the 2020 election.It’s a “cold war” because most people are clueless as to what’s happening and the intent hasn’t been openly declared.But make no mistake, freedom of speech and the freedom of thought and being that comes with it, is under assault.
In my estimation, and others agree, Twitter should be categorized as a publisher because they push or curate ideas on their site.
By this, I mean, it is not a neutral free speech centered platform, which only restricts user posts based on the potential of illegality or harm.
Instead, Twitter covertly ensures only the ideas they agree with get fair and unfettered access to the platform—which if they were truly a publisher, every user would enjoy.
This has been an issue for some time when rights savvy users, like Tim Pool, started noticing obvious political bias.This was quietly revealed in a candid interview with Joe Rogan, Tim Pool, and Jack Dorsey.
The underhandedness is in how they phrase or define censorship.
Legally, if a platform bans speech of a user based on the content of their message—because, let’s say, someone advocates for something the CEO of a platform doesn’t like—such a site is now considered a publisher.This means they are subject to different rules and regulations.If Twitter was subject to those more strict rules, they would get into serious trouble and likely be shut down or broken up.
Twitter avoids this legal definition of a publisher by labeling it’s censorship actions as TOS violations (terms of service), which is that long user agreement no on reads when creating an account.
To anyone with half a clue, it’s clearly an unfair game they are playing.
The principle here is that a company that claims to be neutral has to do so to earn the right to act as the public square for an entire nation of people.
Tweeting is considered a way to issue public notices because what you say on twitter has a commercial effect.From a lawful standpoint, this is basically an endorsement from the government that Twitter is a cornerstone of our society.
Thus, if Twitter is distorting the minds of the people, by manipulating speech online, which it unquestionably does, then this is an assault against the rights and freedoms of the people.In other words, there are few crimes against freedom with such a grievous nature.
If the legal and lawful jurisprudence is hard to wade through, let me give you an analogy.
Speech is to a nation as water is to a healthy house.If your water is poisoned with heavy metals, raw sewage, and pharmaceutical runoff, your family’s health will be put at serious risk.Similarly, if your nation’s free speech waterways are polluted with Deep State manipulators that want to distort the minds of the people by twisting the information and news they have access to, then you get a sick and unhealthy society.
This latest move by Twitter is yet another covert assault on the values of freedom and justice.
They are going to start using special labels for posts they think are misleading or false.
Here’s a clear example of censorship when Twitter banned Zero Hedge for reporting accurate news about the coronavirus.(The information manipulation here is a fact, unquestionable.
But what is the intent? Why censor the truth about the coronavirus, unless… the official story is part of an agenda?)
The question is, who decides?
The answer is, the same “experts” who do fact-checking elsewhere, such as Snopes.
Anyone with a drop of discernment skills can quickly, figure out that Snopes is a rag fact-checking site that clearly manipulates facts and opinions and uses phrases text to provide false reporting.They were called out for it, along with a healthy dose of unsavoriness, a few years ago on the Dailymail, ‘Fact checking’ website Snopes on verge of collapse after founder is accused of fraud, lies, and putting prostitutes and his honeymoon on expenses (and it hasn’t told its readers THOSE facts)
Wouldn’t you know it, the mainstream media swarmed to defend Snopes, who has since then become the “official fact-checker” of the internet.
The punchline is, as all of you likely already know, that this move by Twitter is their attempt to get ahead of the 2020 US election.

Twitter users could earn points and badges for rating “harmfully misleading” content.
Twitter Inc said on Thursday that it was testing a new community moderation approach that would enable users to identify misleading information posted by politicians and public figures and add brightly colored labels under those tweets.
NBC News earlier reported that Twitter company documents showing a mockup of the new approach were accessible on a publicly available website, although it did not identify the site.
The company said that the leaked illustrations showed one possible iteration of a new approach to combat misinformation.
“We’re exploring a number of ways to address misinformation and provide more context for Tweets on Twitter,” Twitter said in a statement.

A spokesman said the project was in the early stages and not currently staffed.
The mockup obtained by NBC News showed a plan to develop a “community reports” feature, which Twitter likened to Wikipedia.Twitter users would earn points and badges for rating “harmfully misleading” content.

Twitter and other social media companies are under intense pressure to stem lies and misinformation on their platforms.
They have introduced measures in recent months designed to head off interference in the U.S.presidential election in November, although critics say they are insufficient compared to the scale of the problem.
Twitter announced in the summer that it would label and de-emphasize tweets that broke its rules but came from important public figures like politicians.
But it has not yet done so for any tweets.
