Channi, during rally at Macchiwara on Thursday, said that there was no threat to PM’s life and such comments were made by him to defame Punjab and Punjabis.

Channi also claimed that the rally of PM was complete flop show and in order to skip this rally due to low attendance the rally was cancelled under the garb of security threat.

“We cannot tolerate that when there was not any kind of danger to PM then why did he use these words that “Jinda wapas ja rha hu”.Actually, when PM came to know that entire venue of his rally is empty and no one has turned up to listen to him, he made this excuse that he was stopped on the road and his life was in danger. For about five days SPG was camping in Punjab and took control of all the affairs and when they decided everything then how is Punjab government to be blamed.Neither any farmer nor any Punjabi came near to the PM, nor anyone shouted any slogans or even came near to his car, then what kind of danger he was facing that he had to say that tell your CM I am going back alive,” said Channi.

“There was no laxity on our part and infact it was SPG who was incharge of all affairs and they decided everything then why are we being blamed and defamed.Saying that my life was endangered in Punjab, if this was the case then what was your SPG , intelligence agencies and PM security was doing at that time,” the CM added.

Channi further said, “Why in the first place he decided to go by road to the rally when it was planned by his security detail that he will use helicopter to reach the rally.Reality is that after coming to know that no one has turned up in his rally he cooked up this excuse that he was stopped from going to the rally and at the end of all this while going back he defamed Punjab, Punjabis and Punjab government.

He can defame me but I will never tolerate same for the Punjabis and I will never use canes or bullets on them on someone’s insistence.People of Punjab have sacrificed their lives for the country and no one can be as nationalist as we are and in case there is any danger on the life of our PM , Punjab’s CM will be the first one to get a bullet in his chest but will never let anything happen to the PM.”

“When the farmers, people who are angry with your government because of its atrocities like slapping cases on them for raising voice against farm bills came in your way then you should have showed some love and compassion for them and talked to them to convince them to make way. They even sat on the roads a day prior to PM’s visit but I went there myself at 3 AM and spoke to them and convinced them to vacate the roads and they did.I am firm on my stand that there was no lapse from Punjab government’s side and the decision of changing the route was that of PM’s own security.”
