Most Read South Africa records FDI outflows of $1.1 bln in third quarter JOHANNESBURG, Dec 15 (Reuters) – South Africa recorded foreign direct investment (FDI) outflows of 16.5 billion rand ($1.1 billion) in the third quarter, as local subsidiaries repaid loans to foreign parent companies, the central bank said on Tuesday.That compares to FDI inflows of 17.4 billion rand in the second quarter, the South African Reserve Bank said in its Quarterly Bulletin.The last time South Africa registered FDI outflows was in the fourth quarter of 2018, with outflows of 3.2 billion rand.Portfolio investments, reflecting a record of buying and selling of securities such as bonds and shares, registered outflows of 28.8 billion rand in the July-September quarter compared to outflows of 54.8 billion rand in the prior quarter.($1 = 15.0389 rand) (Reporting by Olivia Kumwenda-Mtambo Editing by Alexander Winning) 2020-12-15 10:00:01
