PM also participated in Vedic rituals and offered prayers ahead of unveiling the statue.

Hailing Ramanujacharya’s message of equality of all humans, Modi said the saint has been an inspiration to the country’s unity and integrity.

Though he was born in the south, Sri Ramanujacharya’s influence spread throughout the country, he said.”Ramanujacharya Ji gave composition for Sanskrit Granth and gave Tamil language an equal importance in Bhakti Marg.”

“The knowledge of Sri Ramanujacharya Ji is a priceless asset to our culture & heritage.And thus, through this Statue of Equality we intend to restore & preserve this great philosopher’s teachings,” PM said.

It is mounted on a 54-feet high base building, named ‘Bhadra Vedi’.(BCCL)

The Statue is made of ‘panchaloha’, a combination of five metals: gold, silver, copper, brass, and zinc and is among one of the tallest metallic statues in sitting position, in the world.(ANI)

It has floors devoted for a Vedic digital library and research centre, ancient Indian texts, a theatre, an educational gallery detailing many works of Sri Ramanujacharya.(BCCL)
